Two more sunset pictures. This shows the use of panning to capture a wider frame. A primary problem with taking wide pictures like this in most places is the lack of open sky for panning. There are a few occasions when the objects in the view actually enhance the picture; other times, they interfere and corrupt the impression.

A wide sunset view with the sea in foreground. This is a pan from two pictures.
Settings: 1/200s f/7.1 at focal length 70mm for both parts.

This next picture is not a pan; for reference.

Settings: 1/125s f/10.0 at 18mm.

As the season of rains nears its end, the sky in pune is a different shade every evening; and almost every minute of the evening. This picture could not avoid a microwave tower on a neighbouring building. The next one is a crop of a different picture taken at the same time.

The stronger glare of the sun just about to reach out of the lower clouds is cropped off along with the microwave tower in this frame. Its upto you to decide which one is better :-)

eight petaled flower

This garden flower was described as a Tulip to me. But, tulips are supposed to have just 6 petals. It came as a bulb (not a seed). While the flowers may be regarded as showy, they are not very large. Flowers with 8 petals and stamens with one stigma and style (which is out-of-focus and at an incorrect angle in this picture).

This was a quick snap from the window in one of our drives around Pune. It was cropped to this form to highlight the single tree and the mountains in the backdrop. pulling down the crop almost around the tree seemed to enhance its presence.
